Vanuatu/New Zealand Inter Agency Understanding Signing

The Inter-Agency Understanding (IAU) between Vanuatu and New Zealand was established in April 2007. The IAU was signed by the Deputy Secretary (Workforce and Head of the Immigration Department of New Zealand) on behalf of the New Zealand Government, and the Director General (Ministry of Internal Affairs - Republic of Vanuatu) on behalf of Vanuatu. The IAU sets out the terms and conditions which Vanuatu and New Zealand have agreed to, when New Zealand employers are seeking Vanuatu citizens to undertake work as part of the RSE scheme.  The RSE scheme (and the IAU) sit under the leadership of Vanuatu’s Commissioner of Labour.

To date, Vanuatu has provided the highest number of RSE workers to New Zealand to support their horticulture and viticulture industries.
